Who We Are

Chris Haworth

BSC FRICS ARPS

Chris has worked in the property industry for almost 40 years, starting his career working on a valuation of the Grosvenor Belgravia Estate in London before ‘crossing to the dark side’ and working for a number of major development companies over a period of 20 years including Builders Amalgamated, a subsidiary of Trafalgar House and Neale House Investments, a retail developer associated with the Cooperative Insurance Society.

He was then approached to join Carter Jonas, to head up the team responsible for driving forward development on land owned by the Crown Estate and other major landowners. In that role, as well as heading up the Commercial Division of the firm, Chris led the promotion of land for a number of developments, including land for 450 dwellings in Nottinghamshire, a joint venture with an adjoining landowner for 5,000 dwellings in Norfolk and several development sites in Hertfordshire ranging from 75 dwellings up to 2,500. Chris is highly experienced in community engagement and managing the team to deliver planning at the earliest opportunity and to maximise value for the landowner.

When not pursuing his love of property, Chris is a keen shot and skier, and also a part time professional photographer, specialising in portraits, property and theatrical productions, the latter being mainly in support of his younger two children both of whom are determined to follow a career of stage and screen.

Nick Harper

faav mrics

Nick has over 25 years property experience with national and regional consultancies, as well as being national Head of Development and Asset Management at The Crown Estate, responsible for driving performance of its 300,000 acre diverse UK portfolio. He was responsible for promoting a whole range of large and small developments across the UK, from an urban extension of 4500 homes in East Anglia, a 600 house scheme in the South West, through to an award winning development of 10 houses in the Green Belt. Before his role at the Crown, he was a partner for eight years in an independent firm of Chartered Surveyors in East Anglia, advising landowners and developers on a range of property matters, before Nick used stakeholder engagement and public consultation to good effect at The Crown Estate and liaised with the Homes and Communities Agency, The Prince’s Foundation (using its Enquiry By Design methods) and local communities affected by development.

On leaving The Crown Estate, Nick set up and runs a successful consultancy, specialising in advice to private and institutional landowners on planning and development. He has been active throughout England with a focus on the East and South East. For landowners, Nick has worked with developers and promoters to bring forward land to maximise its value from small to large housing developments including a potential Garden City New Settlement.

Nick is married with two teenage children and in his spare time he enjoys country sports, running (when his knees allow!) and also photography (although not to Chris’ professional standards!).
